The Honey Bees room has been created for the adventurous child and provides a little more structure within their day helping them to become more independent. The room caters for 17 children and works on 4:1 children to staff ratio.
The children in this room have been walking for a while and are very mobile and busy. Messy activities are great fun and a huge part of our daily routine. Artwork is regularly sent home as well as being proudly displayed in nursery.
Being active and growing we love our outside play and daily enjoy our secure garden that is full of fun and challenging equipment. We enjoy spending our time on bikes and scooters as well as growing vegetables (which we have eaten at nursery) and flowers.
Toilet training is generally a feature at this age and our nursery staff will happily work with you offering support and books to aid success and support at this exciting stage. Our bathroom area is child orientated with low level toilets and sinks and lots of happy and bright pictures to support good hygiene. We help develop their confidence, creativity and independence. Forming friendships and being caring towards each other is also encouraged as well as the ability to explore and discover.
During the day the children have the choice of whether the choose play indoors or outdoors, with our fully implemented free flow into our outdoor area.
Creative activities - paints - using a variety of colours, collage and sticking
Construction play - is very popular and we offer the children a variety of construction resources, to allow them to build and problem solve.
Sensory play/Messy play (rice / flour / sand / playdough / gloop / jelly etc) - this helps our children to understand how different things feel and move
Water play - we have objects that float and sink and squirt and swim!
Music time - sing-a-long with nursery rhymes and musical instruments from around the world
Story time - short stories with fun and acting
Outdoor play - various activites are planned for the outdoor area, including sand and water, bikes and scooters, communication area with mats and cushions and bats and balls etc which are available daily. We also have a digging area for the children to explore soil and possible wildlife that could be in their. The children are encouraged to handle tools such as spades, rakes and forks safely during their exploration play.
We ask parents to supply disposable nappies and wipes for their child and also due to messy activities and outdoor play, we recommend that changes of clothes are brought into nursery in a bag, clearly named.
Also when the children reach the stage of potty training we advise parents/carers to provide a few more sets of clothes, just incase of those little accidents!
